are you possibly thinking of "bimmer" which is a reference to the four wheeled things made by bmw. (gawd, i can't imagine four wheels....how would you keep control over all of them????)

Yes. "Bayerische Motor Werke". However, since the bikes are made in Berlin, another good slang might be "Berliner Motor Werke". http://emoticons4u.informationalot.com/country/Germany.gif

And here, my Cherman friends were always telling me that it was Bumse Mich Wieder.
Anyway, beemers are bikes, bimmers are cars; twas ever thus.
