According to http://ccbmw.com/ the F800R is coming to the us.

Yep its already up on the US site http://www.bmwmotorcycles.com/us/en/index.html I have heard they are sending 500 here.

Got a chance to ride one in Italy last week for a couple hundred km in Tuscany, nice bike, very flick-able, Still think I like the F800GS better though, but I an 6'1" tall and the R is pretty compact between the seat and pegs.

LOVE the 800 motor though
