Hello Everyone... complete newb here so looking forward to learning a lot about my BMW and riding in general. Haven't ridden in 20+ years and decided to get back into it. Just bought a 1993 K75RT with 22K miles on it in excellent cosmetic and mechanical condition. I pick it up this week and I am really psyched! Hope to see many of you here on the forum and maybe some of you on the road!

Cheers,
Carl

Welcome Carl!

A 93 K75RT with only 22k! Man you scored!

If it's been sitting for a while don't be surprised if it starts leaking oil in a few spots, that's no biggie and as Gary said there's plenty of help to be found right here.

If you are up for a ride to MA, come check out European Motorcycle Day at the Larz Anderson Museum of Transportation. If you show up and you can find me and I'll pay your entry to see a classic KRT out on the lawn. That's coming up in September.

The event chair is a close buddy and he used to ride a K75RT, he still wishes he had it. I'd love to see him see yours. :groovy

Hey, thanks for the info re. the MC day at Larz... I may try to make that! Yeah, I think I found a real gem in this bike. ABS, Corbin seat and really nice cosmetic condition. PO has been using it regularly and there isn't even a trace of oil on the engine anywhere. All maintenance done at Max BMW with receipts for it all. Picking it up Thursday and can't wait to get back to riding again! Will look for you at Larz if I make it. Bike is blue.

Man you scored! It even has Baker Air Wings, you are going to be very happy to have them. Extra points for Max records too.

Just fine.

I've always had a soft spot for K75RT's and the folks that ride them. I don't know how many K75RT's were imported but I've always thought them to be somewhat rare.

To see one in this condition today is definately rare.

If the op just kinda walked in thinking a "bmw might be nice" IMO, in the bang for the buck department for a first BMW he hit the lottery.

Well, yeah, that's kinda what happened :) I've always sort of lusted after a BMW and an acquaintance of mine said he had a K75 with 100K+ miles on it that he still loved and said was his favorite bike of all time. So, I started surfing the web and got really interested in finding one. Was originally looking for an older R-bike but, after doing quite a bit of web surfing, decided the K75 was my target ride. Had started out thinking I wanted a Honda ST but, when I checked one out, thought it was kinda big and heavy for a newb. So, I checked out 3 K75s and the RT was just simply the best deal of the lot by far! The last bike I rode a lot was a 1971 Honda CB750K1 which I bought brand new and actually still own but it is in need of quite a bit of work to get it running again. Winter project ;-)
