Anyone have a timing chain master link for sale. Bike is a 76/6. Purchased a new chain and while istalling the master link - well let's put it this way - not everyone is attracted to cats, i.e. the end U clip took off and nowhere to be found. Have tried many dealers/sources and master link not available alone.

Have an old-fashioned hardware store nearby? The kind that still has bolts in wooden troughs, rope and bailing wire, etc.? Places like that sell master links, of different sizes, too. I had a similar thing happen to me when I needed one for a snowblower chain. How about a small engine repair place, i.e. a place that repairs snowblowers, lawnmowers, and the like?
Or is the timing chain so unique that it requires a special BMW chain link?
(Sorry for my naivete, only trying to help!)

Congratulations on spelling "naivete". Am, was, suspicious of a lawn mower, snow blower etc part having sufficient strength to do the job. Will look into it if nothing else comes up. Thanks.

It's just a roller chain, right? There must be a master link clip out there for some chain-driven bike that is the correct pitch. Try the bearing shops, too, at least the ones that carry roller chain.

Out of curiosity, I checked my parts, and found a master link from something, but I don't have a spare chain, so can't compare. It says 50V, and Brilliant, Germany--leading me to believe it's related to a BMW.
Pitch is 16mm, chain width is 14mm. If it fits your needs, give me an address and it will be on the way.

Thanks for your suggestions. Spoke with a guy this afternoon who said he had one and it is on its merry old way here, I hope. Having little previous experience with these things, read no experience, I was reticent about trusting myself to purchase a link from another source not knowing what may be obvious to many on this board. Just an example is the recent postings on spark plug thread. Don't want to get anal but inyill those posts appeared I thought all the threads were the same. In any case if the puppy doesn't show up I will contact those who offered help. Russ
