I haven't been to Mt Rainier Park for several years and its been longer since I visited Sunrise. So the other day I departed Ellensburg for a loop down to Yakima and up Highway 410 to the Park and then back to E'burg via the Canyon road.

Here are a few pictures from the ride.

First leg was I 82 southbound to Yakima. This picture is of Mt Adams and the Selah Valley approaching Yakima

Stopped in Naches for breakfast at the Sticky Finger Bakery and Cafe. Only get the Omelet breakfast if you are real hungry. I was only able to finish half of it and I put the rest of it on the bread for lunch later in the day. But it sure was good.

An old wash machine being used as a planter in Naches. Nice quiet town they also have a hotel downtown I might check out some time.

Lake Tipsoo near Chinook Pass a popular view spot for taking a picture or two of Mt Rainier.

A closer view of the mountain from the same vantage point as the previous picture.

Though its a poor picture you can see Mt Adams in the background.

That's it for this brief ride to the Park. But since most people only see the western half of Mt Rainier I hope you enjoy these eastern views.

What a beautiful, clear day for views of the mountain! I hear that's kind of rare. We only caught a glimpse of it once or twice during a week in Washington. Anyway, thanks for posting. :thumb

Why couldn't I get 5 minutes of that weather a month or so ago when I was up there? Clouded in for the 45 minutes I was at Sunrise, then had to go.

Beautiful pics and report. We were able to do the east side about 5 years back. Took 131 then 12 east then 7 north. Almost no traffic the entire ride. Loved it.
Were down by St. Helens when she burped. Didn't know it at the time just thought they were interesting clouds.
Thanks for sharing.
