About two months ago I found a Randoff large capacity tank for my K1100LT. It was in a little bit rough, well O.K it was pretty fugly. The body work on it left a lot to be desired. I took it to a body shop that speaks motorcycle. The owner is a rider and understands. ;)
The tank had to be completely stripped down. The original filler material was all coming loose in the middle of the tank where the two halves of the tank was welded together when it was inlargened. They ended up with 16 hours in body work on it. The estimate had been for 4 hours. Since he hadn't cleared the extra time with me he sheepishly asked if I would be willing to pay for 6 hours of labor. After seeing pictures of the work in progress and the end result I gladly paid the 6 hours. The tank is absolutely beautiful.
I wanted to post a couple of pictures of it but I am to computer stupid to figure it out. ( I found the how to post picture thread) Since my last fumbling computer fiasco I am not allowed by my wife to down load anything so I didn't get the Irfanview thingy. Hey, she lets me buy obscenely priced toys for the bike so I guess I can't complain if she doesn't want me melting her computer stuff. If someone is willing, I will e-mail them a couple of pictures for them to post for my pathetic self.
When I bought the tank I was told that it held 8 gals. It doesn't. That puppy holds just shy of 9 gals. Now when we are traveling two up and pulling the Bushtec I don't have to worry about the reduced mileage. It can now be Damn the torpedoes and full speed ahead! Life is good.
