As I haven't seen a direct response, You might try looking at a parts breakdown. There is one available at www.maxbmw.com look for an interlock switch. There is one at the kickstand that sometimes gives trouble. Hope this helps.

The thing about the Kickstand theory is that if that was so, the bike would cut out the second the bike is in gear.

The clutch switch. See that wire coming out at the base of the clutch lever? Goes to the clutch switch.
