Hi, folks:

Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Michael and I live in Wichita, Kansas. I've been riding for over 20 years, mostly Japanese & British, and just bought a gorgeous and extremely well-maintained 1978 R80/7 from a retired aircraft engineer who kept meticulous care of it (not to mention extensive and detailed records). You can see it here: http://www.wichitavortex.com/bmw

I look forward to reading the forums here and hearing from some of the more long-term BMW owners.

Best regards,
Michael (Aircap)

Michael,
Welcome to the club! My first roadbike was a 78 R80 that I purchased used in 1982. Owned it for eleven years. Wish I still had it. Nothing but fond memories. I was a young man and wanted something different than what all my buddies where buying. Wonderful motorcycle. In 1987 I joined the BMWMOA. One of the best bunch of folks I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. They have added greatly to my love of motorcycling. Inspired by what I was reading in the MOA magazine I took off for a ride in May of 1989. Rode 17,000 miles in six weeks. Found out what the US of A looked like. Fell in love with this land of ours. Although no longer young I still ride a BMW, still a member of MOA, still love this land we call US of A.

I didn't know Wichita was "Air Capital of the World !"
Very appropriate for you to be on an Airhead, then.
Welcome aboard!

An absolute gorgeous machine you have there Michael! I really love the black airheads, and someday there will be one in my stable right next to my favorite Roadster!

Just went across a piece of your state a couple times on 35. Real rolling thunderstorms there! Welcome and thanks for the awesome pictures!
