Well after months of lurking I guess its time I introduced myself : Hi my name is Matt and I'm an airhead. I have been addicted since 1991. I bought a tired old R100 from 1982 and have been slowly restoring her as required over the years. I am out of the Seattle area and am writing this from Santa Fe BMW. I do not believe there is a cure for my affliction so I choose to run with it. So far I have over 100k in the saddle and am looking for more. I appreciate all the posts; the problems, the opinions, the drama(?) and the comradeary. I will post a photo when I can, I'm new to computers and am having a bit of trouble with photos at the moment. ps this is my one and only bike. I doubt I'll ever sell her.:D

Yea, you should never sell a bike. Just build a bigger garage to house them all in. Welcome to the Forum.

I'm looking foward to seeing photos of your accomplishment. I've been a luker for some time too, and find navigating my way around a bit difficult as well (so you are not alone).

Thank you all for your kind words. I am taking a break today in Abilene, Heading for Huston in two days. and then Jacksonville. This is my first long trip on a bike, other than a few trips to places closer to the North West. I am truly impressed with the bikes ability to lope along at 70 mph at 4k rpm. day after day after day. She came off the floor as a R 100t but I put on an S fairing shortly after I bought her. I have never painted any thing on her except the battery box when the old battery got fumes on it . She looks a little rough, the paint on the tank is worn off where my legs rub, and I keep having to replace valve covers from too much ground contact in the twisties. I was always taught to play hard or go home.:nono

I'm sure you have left the Lone Star State a while ago, but I just wanted to welcome you here and to wish you a safe ride anyway! Texas has many beautiful areas to ride through, so I hope you enjoyed yourself!

I too was on my first long distance ride when you wrote this. Me and my Roadster went 6k miles this past month up through IA and MN to visit family and friends. And to introduce them all to my new-to-me love (which I could also never part with)!
