Many people seem to have trouble with crimped wiring connections & corrosion.I recently stumbled across liquid elect. tape. Got it from a napa salesman who was in the shop..Seems to work real well..I use it on crimp connectors before & after crimping ..Once its set it seems to keep out all the corrosion gremlins, comes in colors too.the black also does an ok job of mending small seat nicks & tears or to patch minor tears on the boots around sensor connectors..

It works great if you put it on the top of your speedo boot so there are no leaks!!!

I've got no napa# ..the stuff I got is from star brite.www.star brite.com&North American Oil co.www.north american oil.com..also plasti-dip makes a similar product...note:if you're using this stuff pre-crimp ya gotta work quick, for obvious reasons..Also from what I hear most marine supply houses have this stuff.I'd even bet a beer better elect.supply houses got somthing similar..At work we been using it on municipal sanders&salt spreaders & it seems to hold up real well, some anal types will use it pre-crimp,post crimp, heat shrink then over the heatshrink..even a cty.driver has trouble geting these connections to fail & ther'se no rosin or flux in the connection to rot from within :dunno ta quote DR.Thompson,I'd rather be shot from a gun than squeezed from a tube..

I've had good luck with the stuff for all sorts of exposed connections. Check your Home Depot or similar store in the electrical department. It is usually in the display with electrical tape, zip ties, and electrical tools. Comes in both black and red.

I've used the stuff too. In my experience, once you open the can it starts to degrade- use some and come back a year later to do some more work with it it'll be gummy and not stick like it did. Fresh it's great, just check the can before starting the next electrical project.

Can you repost those links. I tied variations and they don't seem to work. It sounds like a good product, one that I'll want in the shop.

As for making bullet proof connections, I always apply solder to the end where the wire is flush with the end of the crimped barrel. But just at the end and not too much solder or else it'll flow/wick too far back causing the wire to break some time later.
