haunted temp,and fuel guages

My 91 k75rt with 115K and euro light switch began, a couple of years ago, to run in the red, or near it, intermitantly when the lights are on. Off the lights, and everything goes to normal..........anyone got any ideas, it's driving me nuts :banghead

The most common source of electrical gremlins is bad ground connections. On a 14-yr oldbike there is likely a bit of corrosion in the electrical system. Under the tank is a lug on the top frame rail with a bunch of ground wires. Clean them. While you have the tank off, it would be a good idea to clean all of the electrical plug connectors. Keep your eyes open for possible damage (rubbing) to the wiring harness itself. Check and clean the connections at the headlight and the gauges also.
