has anyone out there installed xm radio in a K bike which was not originally manufactured with rf spression -ie radio equipped from the factory? I hAVE BEEN TOLD BY MY DEALER THAT THE RF NOISE WILL STOMP ALL OVER THE RECEPTION AND MAKE IT UNUSABLE.
I would like to add xm on my k75rta. thanks for any help.

On my k100RS I had ignition noise in a CB radio until I replaced the after market Autolite spark plugs with the OEM spec Bosch plugs. I have a Roady 2 installed on my K12RS (stock plugs), playing through a Mixit amp and speaker earplugs :doh . I did install the noise filter available through Mixit for both the Mixit and Roady power. Pull your power and ground from the battery to reduce possible noise interference. Mine is ignition operated through a relay tied into the tail light system. The system is crystal clear.

Has anyone had the chance to try the XM "MIFI"? There are very few out, but it is more like a Walkman as far as being self contained. I've been such a good boy this year that my sweetie pie (RedHot) ordered me one for Christmas but it hasn't gotten here yet.
Anyway, I thought that it might work better because of the portability. No need to have a hard wire hookup or mount to the bike, and not be as subject to interference.
The only issue is that they have Elton John promoting them on TV and not someone more like Mike Ditka or Hulk Hogan.

Bologna. But be aware that the original Roady's WILL interfere with GPS's if you mount them too close together. Supposedly the new RoadyII has addressed this issue but I can't say for sure as I haven't personally done it.
I've used mine on my K75RTA, and my Triumph ST (both electronically injected) as well as my F and all my cars and it works fine.
Now if your dealer is talking about mounting it, using dc from the bike and interfacing the audio with a speaker system ON the bike, you could possibly have issues. I listen to mine through custom ear molds from Ear, INC. so the only interface is the dc.

I have a Roady II that I carry in my tank bag. I get power from the same accessory plug that my GPS (Garmin V) is hard wired to and the XM antenna is mounted on my windshield. I patch the Roady into my Collett communucator and use earplug speakers. Great music, great communications, no interference with the GPS, no RF interference. I can unhook and move the roady into my pickup in 10 seconds. :thumb

Actually a friend of mine had the originally Roady that had the emission problem. They sent him a replacement Roady and it worked fine, the Roady II works fine as well.
In order to be FCC and CE registered there are emission standards that the first batch did not meet, thus drowning out the GPS.
I have the Roady II and use it in the map pouch of my little tank bag. I worry that it gets too hot, but it doesn't seem to bother it. I just plug it into the power outlet using a six inch size converter. I use the FM frequency for the radio connection and it works great. I'm sure I could get much better voice quality if it were hard wired, but I like the fact that I can just unplug it and use it in my car just as easy. :clap

I've used the XM Delphi on my K75 for a year or so. I bought the kit with a antenna and base. I mounted the antenna on the topcase and ran the lead under the seat and tank to the fairing compartment. I use a small Radio Shack booster and volume control plugged into the receiver and the headphones into that. I get perfect reception, no ignition noise.
