Could someone that has an original 2001 (ish) tool kit please let me know what was included? I don't see any spark plug wrench in the kit that came with my bike that I bought used. It does appear to have all the Torx wrenches and the allen wrenches as well as the axle nut wrench.
Also, how does one get a socket onto the spark plug on the F650GS? It appears too tight of an area to use a socket. Do you have to take the plastics off and come in from the top?
Cheers,

My 02' and 06' did come with a spark plug wrench. It's a long wrench and has holes in it for you to put the screw driver through. You can also use that to unscrew the oil cap.
Check out the tech faqs on the chain gang. www.f650.com as it will help you access the spark plug. I know you have to take off the plastic and more to be able to access the spark plug from a different angle basically down to where the valve cover is before you can access the spark plug. If there is a better way to do so, I don't know how and hopefully someone else will chime in. Do check out the chain gang as there are specifically to the F650 GS.

Yes George, mine came with a tool kit. I can't believe yours didn't as all bikes come with a tool kit... Maybe not as many tools as they use too. You don't have it under your seat? A small black roll towards back of seat under your seat?

I picked up the factory spark plug wrench from Portland Motorcycles (local BMW dealer). Glad to have it, since it is also used as an extension handle for the wheel bolt wrench. Still can't figure out how to fit it into the tight confines of the engine area from the side. I'm hoping that during the BMW Rally next week, that the class on 650's will show us the way...

Bill,
Yeah, Prof will be there with the classes for The Chain Gang... and I am sure he or others will be able to help you. Prof specializes more with the Classics as yours is a FI.
You can read this link as it should help you better on getting access to the spark plug:
http://faq.f650.com/FAQs/SparkPlugFAQ.htm
In order to get better access to the spark plug... you need to take the plastic, snorkel, and air box off...
