Just a question. I just installed Lucas brake pads on the rear wheel of my 1996 R1100R, and noticed how thin the pad material was, no more than 5/16" thick brand new. New BMW organic pads look at least 1/2" thick. The material isn't organic, looks like shredded metal mixed with something. The pads weren't dirt cheap, either. Is this normal? Any suggestions or tips appreciated.

If those pads are 'semi-metallic', chances are that they are the correct thickness. Other than that I :dunno
On my cage I once installed Repco Metalmaster pads and they were thinner than the stock pads. The car did STOP very well however.
Just keep an eye on the thickness and wear as you put a few miles on the bike!!
Happy holidays!! :D

That's kind of strange to me. Every aftermarket pad I have ever used was always same thickness as OEM pad. Maybe you can get some tech specs from the manufacturer to find out what it up.

I hope it's not the same Lucas, aka Prince of Darkness, from England made infamous by their electrical systems on British vehicles.
