I installed BMW heated grips on my K75S in Sept 2003 and I just noticed today that both sides are not working any more. I checked the fuses. I took the tank off and checked all the connections. I tested the switch with my voltmeter and ohmeter and everything looks OK.
What can it be?? Are these known to break after time? Would both go at the same time?

I replaced the left grip last month... the heating filiment wire was broken, and after one failed repair attempt I replaced it. I doubt this is your problem with both failing at the same time. You have confirmed 12v power at the switch... perhaps the switch itself is bad? Mine has a high/low setting so there are components in the switch capable of going south.

Once again one of Eilenberger's Laws comes into effect. I think it's the most important one.
Law#3 - Troubleshooting: Look where you last worked.
On the weekend I replaced my throttle body tubes and when I was installing them I accidentally disconnected the heated grips plug. In my other thread "Name that electrical connector" it was #3. http://www.burnszilla.com/images/bmw/k75wire3.jpg
So I opened her back up today and looked for the other end of that socket and found it and hooked them up. Problem solved.
Thanks for all your help.
