Virtual Restoration

Blue Moon Cycles is doing something interesting on their web site, a virtual restoration of an R60/2. (http://www.bluemooncycle.com/restoration.htm)

According to the info on the site: They’re going to start with the teardown and assessment, go through the power train rebuild, wheel relacing, electrical, paint, plating, assembly and so on. John tells us that this is not meant to be a “how to” article, as it would require way too many details for that. Instead he hopes you get some idea of what goes into the restoration process and we hope some of you will be encouraged to undertake a restoration yourself.

Or at least understand why it costs so much to do! A pretty cool idea, eh?

They're up to week 2 and I thought you all would enjoy.

Thanks for posting that URL, Ian. It's fun to read. Takes me back to my entry into motorcycling, when I bought a series of cosmetically-challenged Earles fork machines and spent a lot of time in the garage with wrenches.

They're using Ed Korn's (http://www.cycleworks.net/) Many-In-One tool to take apart the engine, just like I have! I would have thought that Blue Moon would have the original Matra tools for the job.

IanAlthough I've bought a bunch of stuff from Blue Moon over the years, I've never met the man... Based on all the stuff he picks up in Europe, I just sort of assumed... (and we know what happens when one assumes).
