Can anyone recall the name of a fellow in Florida who rebuilds seats for sport touring bikes? Read a post on this forum mentioning his name while aftermarket seats were being discussed.

I believe the guy you are looking for is this one. I've kept his website since seeing a couple of reviews and want to take my R1200ST seat there also.

Hi -
I had an email exchange with him a few months back, and, to my reading, it appears he will not work on BMW seat pans - at least on the 1200RT. If my understanding is incorrect, please post back here, as I read very positive reviews of his work, and was favorably impressed with the exchange we had.
Thanks,
Chris

That's the same reply I got last week when I inquired.

And the same reply I got several months ago. Apparently he's had problems cracking the BMW plastic pans when he staples the cover on. Dunno why the other seat makers don't have the problem - but he refuses to do any newer BMW seat with a plastic pan.

Remove your seat cover, send the seat to spencer, he'll do the foam mod, send it back, you reinstall the cover. Can't be that difficult and he won't be responsible if it breaks.

Of course you might.. but I don't.
My personal feeling is - if he's not willing to take responsibility for doing the entire job, I'm not willing to give him $ for a partial job. I also feel I could probably source foam myself locally if that's all I was interested in changing, likely for a whole bunch less money.

Hi, Frank did both seats on my RT about year and a half ago but forgot his name (what memory?). I found the seat more comfortable but it did not address the awkward sitting position the seat dictates. Made 3/4" spacers to raise the seat but that does not make it any better. Think one of two remaining options are lowered pegs and hope to solve numb butt which develops after an hour.:violin
