Last Friday was absolutely beautiful in the north Georgia mountains. Cool, mid 50's and sunny. Fired up the bike late in the morning, and drove it around to the front of my house (This is where I check the oil and tire pressure because the ground is level).

Smelled gas immediately. I looked at the right hand side of the bike (as your sitting on it) and gas was coming down pretty fast on the side of the engine and dripping on the square part of the exhaust under the engine. Whoa!

Ran to get a towel and fire extinguisher out of the house. Cleaned up the gas and waited by the bike until I could touch the exhaust.

Trailered it to Atlanta and got it back from the dealer the next day (Good job BMW Motorcycles of Atlanta). The gas lines were tightened and the o-rings were replaced in the quick connects. My bike has 8700 miles on it, and I had the dealer check out the gas lines around 6500 miles when I got new tires and mentioned the recall notice that was out around the beginning of the year.

I will add, to my topcase essentials, a 5lb ABC extinguisher.
