Need advice on riding in Russia

I'm planning to be in Moscow in July and was wondering if there was anyone on the forum who has been there, rented a motorcycle and took a short trip in the area. I'll have 2 to 3 days to ride so would like advice on where to go, what to see, where to rent and any potential problems to look out for. Thanks in advance.

MOAer's Simon and Lisa Thomas rode Russia and in Moscow. Their diary is here and it mentions contact information who helped them.

I will look for some sources when I have time and see if Simon has any contacts off the record. If I am correct Vlad at BMW Motorrad Moscow was a big help. I am not sure about rentals but anything is possible.

Thank you for the link. What an absolutely fantastic trip Simon and Lisa took! After reading about their adventures, I am definitely thinking long and hard about riding there. I would appreciate hearing if anyone else has any other experience in the Moscow environs. Thanks!
