Should have known that all good things come to a premature end. Got gas yesterday and now the boardcomputer on my 05 LT went AWOL :mad
I have 5475 miles on the bike and all was going (too) well. There is no apparent fix for this as of yet, or is there???. The gas gauge started working after a while but no more MPG, temp, miles to empty or MPH.
Such is life I guess :coffee

My deepest sympathies; that would definitely harsh my buzz.
This should be a warranty repair/replace, no? I hope you're not miles from the nearest dealer, like I am, but even so, it will get rectified, I'm sure.
Sorry it happened to you, though. Happier miles ahead, no?

I jumped in and got the first problem with my 05 LT out of the way in a hurry. At 277 miles the rear end locked up. BMW replaced the entire rear assembly (housing, bearing, ring and pinion, etc.). Seems that they last longer if you put gear lube in.

I talked to BMWNA and BMW is working on a fix. It seems to be software related. Apparently a number of bikes are affected. The bike still rides great and other than the BC, there are no issues. It will be fixed under warranty and yes, my nearest dealer is 100 miles one way. But that is just another excuse to ride anyway :D and I won't be suffering from PMS :twirl

Now THAT is more serious :jawdrop It does seem that lubrication helps to increase bearing life somewhat. I think I read that somewhere. :lol
Did the dealer not check the bike out before delivery :idea ????

My dealer said BMW has taken checking the gear lube off the pre-delivery checklist, quality control at the factory now makes this redundant. He also said that he will not let a another bike leave without checking all fluids. He personally came and picked the bike up, 130 miles each way. I am taking it in Thursday because I received a recall notice from BMW. Seems the fuel pump might not operate under 50 F.

I am getting the feeling that I should have kept my RT :dunno Although, so far I haven't had anything else go wrong and the RT did have some recalls too, so I guess it's all part of the bike ownership thingie. :bikes
Oh well :coffee
