If you replace the "url" between the brackets with "img", we'll see...

When posting, you can either manually type [ i m g ] -the URL- [ / i m g ] or you can click on the small icon of the mountain above the message field (http://www.bmwmoa.org/forum/classic_images/editor/insertimage.gif), and cut and paste the URL.

Hey Fritz,

I edited your post a bit and put the [/img] at the end of the stuff you'd already put up. The IMG at the start tells vBulletin (our forum software) to go somewhere else and get a picture and the /IMG at the end tells vbulletin when to stop reading the text as an image link.

You did a great job getting the image link, though.

The best choice for including the smugmug shots isn't the tiny shot, but the small or medium. So, for example, instead of ending with "Ti.jpg" it would end with "S.jpg".

One thing I try to remember is the people on dialup, so I will put the smaller picture up and then a link to the larger picture. There are a few ways to do that, for me the easiest is to create a link to the big picture using the hyperlink tool that looks like <img src="http://www.bmwmoa.org/forum/classic_images/editor/createlink.gif" > and put in the text, "Click for bigger image" then I create the image link. I then cut the text of the image link and paste it right before the Click.

I don't think Yahoo allows for linking of photos on their site. Kind of a drag, to say the least.

Oops. For some reason, your URL is truncated. I went to your site and opened the image. I then clicked on "share photos: links, forums, blogs. I copied the "medium" sized URL.

Wrapped between brackets, it looks like this (with an asterisk added):

Remove the asterisk, and it looks like this:

Can we use a Facebook URL for posting pictures. I tried it and it did not work. I am pretty I did it correctly.

I'm not sure about Facebook. Looking at the image address you've got there, it appears that you copied the address of the page the image was on. What you need to do is open the page the image is on, right-click on the image (control-click on a Mac with an older mouse) and select "Copy Image Address" (the text may be different on a PC, but you want to be copying the image, not the link). Let me try one:

Okay, I can see that (how do I know I can see it before I've posted this? I clicked "Preview Post"; I use that a lot), but the image is cached in my browser. The question is whether anyone else can see it. I'll post this, clear my cache, log out of Facebook, quit my browser, and see what I can see.

EDIT: Yeah, I can still see it. So it seems like linking from Facebook works.
