Curious if anyone knows of any BMW motorcycle dealers that also own a new / used car dealer (any brand). I have a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado I want to trade for a new / used GS (listed in the Flea Market under "Trades") but, really need a dealership that is linked to a car dealership as well, as 99.9% of the motorcycle dealers will not take a truck in on trade (I can appreciate that). I live about an hour north of Indy and am willing to travel 500 miles (maybe more) for the right situation. Thanks in advance for any information!

I believe BMW of Manhattan (NYC) - the "company" store has both under the same roof. About the only dealer left in the US who has that AFAIK.. they tried it with a few dealers, then decided to kill the idea.

Sandia BMW in Albuquerque has both bikes and cars. The bikes are in a separate building, but the ownership is the same. It is, unfortunately, quite a distance from you.

Thanks for the info. The car dealer does not have to be BMW as, I believe, the BMW bike dealer in Indianapolis also owns the VW / Subuaru dealer down the street. They just do not have much at this time. I am going to check out the NM dealer...would be a nice trip out and ride back!

San Francisco BMW used to sell both under the same roof. They recently moved the motorcycle portion to a different location, so I'm not sure if they have the same ownership.

Touring sports BMW in Greenville, SC also owns a Lotus dealership. Then the same owner across the street also owns a Land Rover dealership.

BMW Motorcycles of Lynchburg, VA (formerly Hammersley http://www.webparts.com/) is part of Crossroads cars (http://www.crossroadscars.com/) that have 13 dealerships. The same building that has motorcycles have BMW, Mercedes, Lincoln,Mercury and Volvo.

I forgot all about Touring Sport as when I lived in western NC, I bought a couple bikes from them. Good stuff on the Lynchburg dealer as well. Both of these are much closer than the west coast shops. Thanks again to all and wish me luck!

Yes. They are co-owned according to their website.

As mentioned, the dealer in Indy also owns the Saab dealership in Speedway. Woodson BMW in Ft. Wayne is owned by a car dealership group as well but the car dealerships are mostly located in PA which presents a logistics problem.

Many dealers have relationships w/ wholesalers, so even if they're not car retailers, they could (and have been known to) take your trade and offload it. Some even do boats and personal watercraft.
I'd speculate the value may not be as high as that offered by a retailer ... but who knows? Wouldn't hurt to ask your local BMW MC dealer or the one you want to deal with.

Is there a CarMax used car dealership near you. Your Colorado is worth as much to them as to a Chevrolet dealer, maybe a little more even. I've had good luck selling two recent model used cars to them instead of "trading" them in at the dealer. Then you could expect a discount on the new bike since the selling dealer wouldn't have to "over allow" for your trade in.

Same thing with their store in Santa Fe, of course.
But a BMW car dealer isn't going to be interested in compact Chevy pickups for tradeins.
