It happened today my friends, as I knew it soon would. The dreaded day has arrived - this is the first time since my flat tyre in late June that I have driven my car to work. The prognosticators were calling for several inches of snow and my gut told me they were on the money and they are.
Acch-pooey.
I know I can share my heart with you all and that I will be understood. My whole day has gone bad, from the boring meeting I got up an hour early to attend to the fact that there isn't anyone coming in the store hardly. (The fact that it is blowing and snowing isn't helping anything.) Woe is me. Tomorrow is supposed to be more of the same, only worser. DANG.
Lucky for me I still knew how to drive an automatic four wheeled beastie on account of I take her out every Sunday just fer practice!

Bummer dude! Now you too are suffering from PMS :stick. I hope it will be over soon, before your bike cools off too much! :doh
In any case Happy Thanksgiving :thumb

Please accept my sincere & heart felt condolences.

It is amazing how fast those driving skills atrophy. I drove my truck a couple weeks ago & I could barely keep it between the lines. Apparently you do not counter-steer a car, it has a wheel thingy that you turn as I recall. :brow

Oh & BTW Happy Thanksgiving. :thumb

Donchoo worry none there, Cliffy. They'll get those roads clear for you in no time, I'm sure.

It's supposed to pass through by tomorrow then be warmer over the weekend.

Yes Cliffy it is now the hard part of the year. It was freezing rain this morning and I had to start up the snowblower this evening when I got home.

I also had to go in an hour early for a meeting.... weird.

The worst part is the fact that I did have to countersteer my cage as it was sliding sideways across the road. Somehow I did not feel as safe in my car as I would have had I been on my RT and been able to turn the throttle to turn tighter...

Cliffy i know what your feeling, quite a bummer, life just get dim, even people at work wonder about your low spirits, there you are day- dreaming about riding your bike and its snowing outside, been there and i feel sympathy , the only suggestive, uplifting, encourgment, that i can give is to plan the next ride, I'm looking at a trailor to haul mine south this winter, just to feel the ride again...matthew

I was disappointed also Cliffy when I heard the weather report earlier this week. This being my first year with a road bike. This winter stuff as affected me differently then it ha in the past years. Me thinking this is going to be a longer then usual winter :cry

We were lucky here, the snow went just south of us. I played hooky and got a little riding in...29 degrees...may finally be time for some Gerbings. But the air is feeling like snow and it is inevitable. On the "upside", I've got an airhead in the garage that needs some work. So it's off to buy a portable heater tomorrow AM for me. Hopefully that will keep the doldrums away this winter.

Cliffy, I know what you mean. Yesterday was just plain ugly on this side of the state. And although the sun is shining this morning, there's a light coating of snow everywhere. The high is supposed to be 33, so ice will be there for another day. Maybe we'll be able to ride by Sunday, with only partly cloudy skies and temps above freezing. Here's hoping!

But it's coming soon. There's some flurries out there now.

I've already changed all the oil, and done fall maintenance, tomorrow I'll be dumping in the Stabil, filling up the tanks, pulling off the bags, and lining 'em up against the wall of the garage, safe with their winter flannel covers on.

I just hope it's not a long one.... :cry

My Bike is 400 miles away at my Mom's place. She's not a rider (anymore) so I rode down and brought her up in her car to my place to see the Grand Kids. Today was the fist time in MONTHs I've driven into work. Boy, did that feel strange. I knew I was in trouble when I tried to park her Towncar in the motorcycle spot. :D

cliffy - i thought of you (and all you other snowed in folks) this weekend when i got ~500 miles going to and from galveston. i was in a hurry, so i slabbed it down there, and at first i was pissy to be on the interstate. then i remembered all you folks and how you'd likely be happy to be riding anywhere, at all, and i put myself in a better frame of mind, and sent all of you good vibes. (actually, just radiated them northward, i wasnt sure where people were.) when i left it was in the 40's, and i was bundled up real good. it was durn chilly. (for me.)

Can't make it Tim. We own a small jewelry store in Lowell and this is our time of year to make hay!

Cliffy, it may be time to invest in the stud gun thingy in the Aerostich catalog to stud your tires for winter riding. I'm thinking about doing something like that with one of the old sets of tires we have laying around.

Sorry to hear about the unfortunate meteorlogical (sp) circumstances. i would've replied sooner, but had to mow the yard, ride the rt, paint, ride the rt, mow some more, ride the rt. you get the message. about 78 down here right now. little cloudy but great for riding!

Brian, i wish I could feel your pain here in burbs of Chicago. Snow, rain, rain, rain ,then 2-3inches of snow tomorrow. Looks like the Rt stays garaged until March. Want to trade locations for a while?

Face it Cliffy777...WINTER'S HERE!!! No more rallies with all of our little buddies, lots of salt on the roads (at least in IL), and the garden hose is too cold to be able to wash the Mighty Black K that returned from the Swamp Scooters Cajun Rally! IL, MI, WI, it's all the same...Winter has returned!

OKAY, so much for the "glass is half empty!" Spring and the '05 riding season are that much closer! Looking forward to seeing all my friends (starting with the Wild Goose Run)!

Fixed the problem. Roads cleared. Rode to work. 27 degrees and overcast. Ride home - 34 degrees but rainy and dark. (geez, why does it have to get dark at night??)
Better to ride than drive. Feel better now.

It's one thing to be cold and decide not to ride. it's another to have your property destroyed by back to back to back hurricanes. worst part was we couldn't ride either at that time. if hurricanes go back to becoming occasional i guess i'll take florida over the cold north. grew up in central ny so i know the weather.
