Whenever I change the engine oil in my K75, I buy the "Kit" (filter, O-ring, & drain plug crush washer) from the dealer. In every kit I've bought, there are also two identical small crush washers approximately 13x10 in size. Does anyone know what they are for and why they are included in an oil filter change kit ? They are too small for either the transmission or final drive and too large for the front fork drains.

The parts guy said they are for the K1200LT. BMW sells the same kit for all Ks, according to him. Maybe a LT owner will chime in.

If you figure that out, maybe you can tell me what the dozen or so washers that came with the K100 fluid change kit were for. Being a pack rat, I still have a pile of these, which was OK since I found two to use on my R80's fork drains.

Looked thru the parts fiche for a K1200LT. The only crush washer I found of the correct size was for the coolant temperature sensor. I don't know why that would be included with an oil change kit.

Check the final drive and transmission drain bolts I believe they fit there.
I reuse my rubber O rings, I have collected several over the years and have never had one fail to seal the oil filter cover. I don't use the same one I just took off I use one that has been sitting in a drawer from the last oil change. I wouldn't use a dried or cracked one but then I don't have any that are. Just a thought... save some money over the years by just buying the filter and crush washer.

If you want to save even more ($.57), drain the oil out the filter cover (take out the two bolts farthest from you and then SLOWLY back of the third one to drain the oil), no crush washer replacement!
Boy, they sure are right when they say: "The cheapest thing on a BMW is us riders".

Nope, they are WAY to small for either the trans or FD. The search continues .....
