Can anyone tell me if Rob Lentini's Zero-Zero Surging Fix applies to the 1150 as well as to the 1100?

Don't waste your time! Spend a couple hundred bucks on a Techlusion 259 box and enjoy your new ride. I tried all the fixes on my 1100 and the 259 did the trick. Everyone I have talked to that has installed the 259 has been very happy with the purchase. I think they will give you your $ back if it doesn't work, go check out the web-site. www.techlusion.com

The surging issue on Oilheads is about as contentious as what sort of oil you should put in the motor. But one thing for sure...the Techlusion box works!
I respect those who say you can solve the problem with different spark plugs, a closer throttle body and valve adjustment, or a trip to a German Witch Doctor (Doktor), but if you just want to enjoy your ride, I say get the Techlusion.

Well, to each his own, I suppose. I just have a hard time justifying a couple hundred dollars worth of electronics to cover up what is essentially a simple adjustment issue.

The reason for the surge is the o2 sensor and the injectors speak to each other to slowly. All the Techlusion box does is bridge that gap. It’s not just a BMW issue and that’s the reason the Techlusion people make the box for more than one brand. You can run yourself crazy trying all the “snake oil” on the web, but ask anyone that has the 259 on their bike and they will tell you they should have done it sooner. Minutes to install for years of enjoyment.

All I can do is recommend to anyone that has a surging problem, don’t wait, spend the money and you’ll be Real Happy you did.

Scott, let me chime in. I too resisted plunking down the $250 for a black box. I did the zero=zero & obsessively synched the TBs (about every 3,000 miles)and achieved only marginal improvement. Finally I decided to just live with it (and reminisce about my departed K100). Then, while picking up some parts at my local dealer right before a big trip I saw the Techlusion R259 hanging on the wall and impulsively bought it. MAN! It was like getting a new bike. The difference was just incredible! The surge is 99.5% gone (still there very slightly on downhill runs) but that's only the half of it. The engine is much more responsive and I swear, it pulls stronger. What used to be a mildly annoying engine is now truly sweet. I should add that I also installed Denso IK 22 plugs. Obviously, I'm happy!

Well, I have added the Techlusion and after much tweaking it has eliminated 99% of the dreaded surge. But the cost has been significantly lower mileage. I was hoping for a compromise, i.e. noticeable surge reduction without the big mpg drop. Guess it just isn't possible. Anyone considered the dual plug kit?

I've had my Techlusion R259 installed for a few thousand miles, and while there is a 2-3 mpg drop, it is an acceptable trade-off for me. When I want economy, I take Mrs. S' Toyota. :D

New owners of the Techlusion box should remember two things for best results:
- Use only a digital voltmeter to set up the pots. They are *very* sensitive. You can't possibly get them spot on any other way.
-The baseline settings in the instructions are just that. Your actual settings will likely be leaner. Experiment, and set the pots as lean as you can without re-introducing the surge. This done, you should not lose many mpg (unless you "hoon" around the backroads like I do!)

I've tried all the "fixes" on my '03 RT to rid it of surging. NOTHING has helped. But....I have heard good things about the Techlusion R259 thingy.

It sounds as if gas mileage suffers though, with it installed. Any other negative aspects that I should be concerned about? :dunno
