Now that I've had my 2000 1100R for a year I'm getting ready to change the brake fluid. In reading the Haynes manual it states that BMW recommends removing the calipers and pushing in the pistons before bleeding. I've bled the brakes on cars before without doing this. Is this just BMW's attempt at the perfect brake job in an imperfect world? Any opinons or experiences would be appreciated. :help

It's pretty much redundant if you are using a vacuum bleeder, the pistons get sucked back into the bores anyway. Just remember that when you first ride away after that brake bleed. :thumb Make sure you have brakes before riding.

If you are doing a manual bleed, you can first empty the MC reservoir of old fluid and then push the pistons all the way back in the calipers and empty it again. This will move most of the old fluid out of the system. Then you just add new fluid and bleed 'em the old fashioned way.
