Hi Folks,
I've been making a list of all the things I need for my K75RT and would definitely like to add a set of accessory lights. Looking for what lights people like (PIAA, Hella,etc.), what is the preferred mounts, how to wire the suckers up?

Hella FF50s offer a lot of bang for the buck.
Easy to fabricate a light bar to mount under the front of the fairing which is what I did with mine. I just modified my setup and will post a new photo soon.
PIAAs are a very nice, bright and compact (but expensive) option (perhaps overkill?). Decent auxilliary lights come in all shapes and sizes. A lot of auto shops and Wal-Mart stock cheap lights in the $20 to $30 range, too.
IMO, you can't really go wrong with any extra lighting---it's paramount that all of us on two wheels are seen. (Why I recently mounted my old 35-watt halogen bicycle light on my 50cc Honda scooter, too!)

Homemade bracket attached to existing holes in fairing. 1/4" aluminum plate with rubber washers between bracket and fiberglass. Hella FF50's.

Thanks, Reid; your set-up is much like mine except I've got my lights hanging down from the light bar instead.
Saved me the trouble of taking and posting a photo in the meantime...:D
Btw, Ted, I got my Hellas from Susquehanna Motorsports who also have some great deals on other Hella lights ($20 for some Hella Optilux fog lights that I also have mounted a la Motolights style on caliper brackets).
Google 'em if interested.

I'm of the opinion it's best to from a triangle using auxilary lighting.
I mounted these by using longr bolts and some stainless tubing cut to length.
Sounds pricey, but it's not. Maybe $15.00 for the mounting stuff.
Got the CATZ off e-bay for ninty something. Came with a relay, switch & wiring needed.

I have two aux lighting setups on my K75RT.
The first is the Martin Fabrication mounts, which attach where the front fender is. Here's the Martin website link:

Great location for creating the triangle-effect. For lighting, I have the cheapie 35w PIAA knockoffs, made by Pilot, as recommended by Don Eilenberger. I'm not concerned w/ illumination here .... just creating that triangle-effect. Possible alternative here would be the Skene LED lighting system.
My second setup employs a RBR Light Bar, which attaches just beneath the chin of the fairing. The mounting perches jut out to each side. This is a well made unit, but I think RBR went out of business a few years ago. Its perfect for the K75RT, and allows a high mounting location for lighting. Here's a pic of the RBR bar, from Cyclegadgets webpage, as an example. (Note: its nots compatible w/ the R1200RS, despite the claim that it is.)

For lighting on the RBR bar, I currently have the Sylvania 1010X HID kit. Since they're fog lights, they don't "throw" decent illumination down the road. I'm probably going to ditch them, and move to one of the Hella FF series driving light kits.

Used this stuff.
5/16" Stainless tubing, I forget the wall thickness but it's thin and light. YES!!
If some goober leans on it or uses it for a foot rest it could deflect but the
bolt runs through the inside.
Replace that front reflector / fender bolt with a long 3 1/2" bolt. Use either metric or english thread. Use the appropriate diameter. 3/16" will work. Does not matter as then you buy 4 thin jam nuts. One to tighten, the second locks it.
OK, U caught me. It's harder than most mounts as you need to remove the front wheel as those bolts come from the inside. But should'nt you know how yo do that anyway?
Order of components from inside to out.
Bolt head/cap bolt, flat washer, star washer, / fork, reflector / star washer, flat washer, cut tubing, flat washer / CATZ light has 2 ears with about 3/4" in between which I filled with a short piece of the same tubing / flat washer, star washer, jam nut 1, jam nut 2.
The wiring was all heavy duty but bright white and black with bullet connectors. I used heat shrink tubing to cover the wires. The wires then route under the plastic fork brace cover. Then I just followed the brake lines up under the frame/tank.
Don't be in a hurry, do a clean job. I mounted the lights on a Friday evening and did the wireing & switch Saturday morning. You can adjust th elights angle up or down wth a VERY firm grip and they stay right where you put them. I've been down some rough roads and they have not moved in over a year.

Hi Ted what are your goals for the extra lights? Converting turn signals to running lights front & rear really helps the bike show up, easy and cheap project as kits are available. To see down the road better there are many options that work well but most should be wired to a seperate switch and relay as they draw plenty of current and don't forget to use a fuse in the main power wire. High current draw can tax the charging system on older Ks unless you have upgraded to the 50amp altenator depending on how much "stuff" your running [ grips, suits, gloves, radar jammers, computers and on and on]. My stock 32 amp K75S handles heated grips, 44watt vest, and two 100 watt 4" h3 lights ok, but I need to lose some amps or upgrade my alt so I can run my new 90 watt heated liner.:violin

$15 Wal Mart Burners, mounted directly to the holes in the fairing using brackets supplied with the lights. I used a relay with off, on with the high beams.
