I was checking out Knary's web site, and came across his map of routes ridden (http://conary.org/bike/index.php?route=1) and thought, "Hey, I've been wanting to do that."

Rather than reinventing the wheel, I thought I'd see what other's have done. So, Knary, wanna lead us off by explaining how you did it?

I am using Garmin's MapSource to download my track for the day. I have one master file of all the tracks somewhere.

I then open up the tracks in MapSource and do a screen capture. I then post the screen capture (http://www.bradfordbenn.com/beemer/trips/July.htm)

A few years ago I saw Scott's map and made one. I used Mocrosoft Streets and Trips to get the map and then scanned it into Photo Deluxe.
Then I removed the roads and painted in the roads I have taken.

Lots of very straight lines through the midwest. In a hurry to get to the mountains or somethin'? :thumb :bolt :thumb

Jeebus! How many miles do you have under your belt? I've got something on the other side of a 100k and I've got far fewer squiggles on mine.

(the red marks roads I've taken on the GS in the past 18 months)

merrittgene,
To answeryour question. I scanned a map years back and add to it from time to time in photoshop. IF I had a quality mapping program, I'd use it to generate a better and more accurate map. On my very short list of things I don't like about being a mac user is the shortage of mapping software.

Are there any North-South roads in the Mid-West ?

On my R80 I had 54,000 miles, then I bought my R100R in Jan of 92,New.
Today I have 198,420 miles on it.

Scott you could ride more if you stayed in Reno.

Map. I posted a Blank map on my website, If any one wants to copy it go ahead. You may want to repair some of the State names and borders on a photo program.

... ya'll are so organized!

I could do some very impressive squiggles, but a ton of my lines would have to be drawn by hand because ,amy of the the miles were done before GPS.

Heck, I can't even remember half my trips. There's at least a dozen Iron Butt days in there, but there's no way I am organized enough to do the documentation.

The other day I added up all the bikes I had and the miles they had when I sold them... the number is ~400K. Can I prove it? :rofl

Over the past few years I've run the Georgia club's mileage contest. Do I enter it?

I rationalize all this by saying that my day job is all about organization... strategies, architectures, budgets, production timetables, deadlines, client correspondence, billing. The last danged thing I want to do is organize my hobby!

I stand in awe of your achievements.

Ian

But then I'd still be in Reno. :evil
I ride year 'round up here as well but riding has become a slightly less significant part of my life as there are so many other interesting pursuits in this town and area.

Any idea if we ever meet when I was there (98-2001)? Did you ever go on any of the Sunday rides out of Sierra BMW with Chuck Hickey and I?

Yes I remember seeing you and Chuck. You were crawling over and under the bikes in the showroom.
If you remember "We don't need no stink'n raingear" in Reno.
