Boxxer - I just put 9970 on both the front and rear. I changed both at the same time because I had to plug the rear. They wore well, I did develop a flat spot on the rear after about 7000 miles. The front still has life and I kept it. I guess that is probably the average. Not sure. I ran 38 psi front and 40 psi rear with occasional 2 up riding and mostly slab.

I have about 3500 miles on my Z6's. Good wear so far. I'm very happy with the ride and handling. Especially in the wet. I'll be getting another set when these reach the end of their lifespan. :thumb

I just switched out to my second set. Tried them after the Bridgestones which came on my 04 RT needed changing and liked the Z6's enough to go it again. Had about 10,000 miles on them and probably could have gone further, but at what point do you start risking problems or flats? I only have about 400 miles on this second set so far and they feel great. Nothing like riding on brand new tires.:thumb I run 40 in the front and 42 in the rear.

I am running Metzler Z6's on my '02 RT .
After 7K + on my first set I pitched the rear tire after I picked up a screw in it .
I think it could have gone another 4K.

I am running Metzler Z6's on my '02 R. I currently have 7k on the set. They look like they will run another 4k. Great riding tires. 38 F 40 R.

I don't know how people get such mileage on their tires. I'm lucky to get 6K. I ride a 94 RSL and have my third set of Z6's. I got about 750 more miles on the first set than on the Z4's I had previously, the second set worn down to the cord gave me 7500. So, better mileage and love the ride.

Kim,
I have heard ..the more tire surface you use the better mileage you get ! :)
Are you keeping your tire pressures up ?
I think it is a pain to go to a gas station in riding gear and fiddle with tire inflation...I got a portable air tank so I can add air in my garage B/4 I take off...

Most of my miles are highway and I check the pressure before each trip. My last set were M1s which lasted less that 5K.

Anyone running Z6's experience any noise at speed from front tire? This thing is singing like a knobbie. 39 lbs and yes, the rotation is correct. New wheel bearings this spring. Not really bothersome, but I can hear it even with earplugs....Was running Dunlop 220's last 40 K miles, thought I'd try 'em. Great in the rain.
I hope the Z6's wear better than the Z4's did. My '03 RT came stock with the Z4's.
I did get about 9,000 miles out of the rear, but it developed a "flat spot" in the middle of the tire. So much so, that when I removed the rear wheel, the flat spot was flat and wide enough, that the tire/rim would stand up all by itself. :huh
I'm currently running CONTI FORCE tires. I like them, and so far, no signs of any flat spots. I'm hoping to see 10,000 miles out of the rear tire.
I'm thinking of some Michelin Pilot Roads for my next set of tires. :thumb

Dano, I am on the second set of ContiForce tires. I like them too, and I got great milage out of them. My dealer had a closeout on them. I am considering these (http://www.conti-online.com/generator/www/de/en/continental/motorcycle/themes/motorcycletires/sport/force_sm/force_sm_en.html) when I get my next set of tires. I really like contis on my bicycle, and I will give them a shot on the RS.

After 5500 miles to Spokane and Canada and a trip to Illinois (2500 more miles), my Z6s still have comfortable tread left--perhaps another 2000? At the risk of any Kansas patrol officers reading this: I crossed western Kansas from Ness City to Eads, CO at speeds of 100 to 110 mile-after-mile, which, of course, takes a toll on rear tread life. At those speeds, the RT seemed to 'settle in' to a state of oneness with the road and the 'feedback' from the bike suggested nothing other than complete control. The front tire shows only a trace of the left side banding typical of the Z4s I've had before. I'm running 40-41 lbs/front--41 lbs/rear.

GRSteiner,
Rex (above) was saying his Z6's make quite a bit of noise. Are you having the same problem? I'm considering a pair for my RT.
Thanks,
Scott

I have not noticed any noise from my Z6s and they are wearing very well. I have a little over 6k and they look like they might go another 3k.

Since I ride with silicone ear plugs, I wouldn't be aware of any tire noise. Frankly, I notice no noise difference between the Z6 and Z4s I've run before. I've never felt them lose traction under any conditions encountered so far and I tend to push the envelope occasionally. Aside from the banding on the rear after 8K miles (a lot of straight, flat roads across KS), the normal wear at this point seems to indicate an improvement over Z4s and that will be a welcome improvement. :type

I am a spirited rider and found that I still got 12K miles out of my Z4's. :twirl
The second set I picked up a nail in the rear and after plugging it looks like I will get about 10K. I rode it low, real low, on air 3 times which resulted in cupping of the rear tire. I'm nearly due for a new one, though the front still has a lot left on it. :thumb
