As in the subject line, I purchased an '02 1150RT in early December. At this point, I have changed the oil and will be installing a new alternator belt today. What other maintenance do you folks recommend to ensure the service is up to date? I would like to do most of it myself, but will turn to a professional when the work is over my head. The bike has 69,000 km (41,000 miles) on it. The tires are Michelin Pilot Roads and look like they still have a few thousand km left in them. I would like to get the work out of the way before the spring rush starts. Any help is appreciated!

Set valves, sync tb's, all oils, plugs, airfilter, fuel filter, flush brakes and cluth fluid.

I think that will put you right.

What Oldhway said covers a good bit. I would throw in brakes, as in check the pads. Put the battery on a charger to make sure its good. Check tire pressure too! :thumb

I would change the clutch fluid since it is probably overdue. If it is still clear, you are okay. It turns brown as the first sign of the slave cylinder going bad.

Brake fluid can absorb a lot of water before it changes color. You cannot go by that. In the case of the clutch, by the time you see darkened fluid the damage is most likely done.
Change every 2 years minimum for brakes as well as clutch. (as per repair manual recommendation)
