Has anyone experienced both the high and low beam going out on their LT?
I have the upgraded 100W hi and upgraded low lamps installed and they both have stopped working. Is there a relay or in line fuse that I might not know about?

There are no Wedge LTs, maybe this should be moved to the Brick section?

New K-bikes are can-bus system and if it draws too much power and battery is low, it will shut it down.

What year s your bike? Early K1200s are prone to ground connection failures at the headlight, especially if high output bulbs are used.

Check for a burnt ground wire inside the lamp housing (for this, you will need to remove the front fairing cowl and then unbolt the lamp housing and pull it out.)
Should be an easy fix.
The stock wiring on the K12RS is not sufficiently thick to support higher wattage bulbs, especially the ground wire. For optimum brightness you might want to consider running three new wires (min 14 gauge on each lamp, 12 gauge on the ground wire) straight from the battery, then using the existing wiring to control two relays, one for low beam, the other one for high beam.

Thanx Jurgen, it was EXACTLY what you described. When I finally got the fairing and plastic disassembled and removed the housing I found that the grounds for both lights were loose on the spades which are part of the spring assembly holding the high beam in. When I looked closely I found that due to the looseness and the small gauge wire, there had been a short that caused the wire to actually burn so hot it melted the wire cover and burned the white ceramic back of the housing assembly. New wire and a new high beam, problem solved.
