Just a little info i sold my 06 Harley Streetglide last August do to difficult longer rides and my friend who has a BMW talked me into a 05 R1200RT. The bike had 1200 miles on it and it was on ebay. It had the trunk and a bunch of other add ons. I called the guy and offered him full price the 1st day and he took it. 2 days later he told me guys were calling and offering $2000 more than what i paid him for it. I new i was getting a great deal as it was. I had the bike shipped to me 2 weeks later and i have been all smiles ever since. The wife likes it a lot better also. My only regret is why did i not do this in the 1st place. Like most people i had to try the Harley thing. It was fun but not a bike for confort. Glad i did it other wise i would still wish i did. Now i can't wait to get back on it. Going to Daytona bike week at the end of March. I hope to see some other members there.

If you are going to Daytona and want to meet some BMW riders, I would recommend the B-Cubed campout http://bcubed.us/ Good campground, fun activities,:bottle and a introduction to some of the most interesting bike folks you will ever meet.:dance

Its a nice way to first meet the Beemer Family, then, you will have to come to Georgia Mountain Rally later on in the spring. Again, a bunch of good Beemer folks and a really fun rally and great Saturday Dinner. You will feel this attraction to ride to eat, and talking with all sorts of Beemer people.

OK, Daytona, then GMR, I would then guess that you might want to think about Redmond Oregon, Yeah, it is a long way out, but we are trying to get a Rally Train going so you could ride out and train back:thumb Or, you could just do some serious riding on that RT and make it a real adventure. Even if you do not go to Oregon for the National this year, you WILL have to go to a MOA National Rally. That event is the biggest get-together we have and it is impossible to describe. Beemerville lives for 4 days in July, and it is something every BMW motorcycle person should experience. When you make it to the National, VOLUNTEER! It runs on people-power and it is a living thing. I would recommend that you put a shift in working in the Beer Garden.:deal Actually, there are a lot of jobs @ the National, so join in and have some fun.:brad

Hi Wolverine,

I did the same thing you did, but I wasn't quite as smart as you. I went through a lifetime of Harley's before I switched to an 08 R1200RT too. I love it for longer rides and think you will too. My last Harley was an 05 Superglide, great bike, highly reliable, no maintenance to speak of and comfortable for short distances, but the BMW is much better for the long haul.

Lots of good people and great information on the site too, so welcome to the group!
