Greetings,
I'm getting new tires for my 1994 R1100 RS and recently had the wheels trued up. This seems like a good time to paint the wheels. Does anyone have any tips for painting aluminum wheels? I am told BMW has a wheel paint to match.
Thanks is advance for your assistance.

Take a look at this:

Wurth paint is good stuff for the DIYer.

I called my local BMW shop about paint. They advised to go to the local auto parts store and by some Mercedes or Audi wheel paint? They are of the opinion both would be a close match.
Can anyone tell me what prep needs to be done before painting: rough up the surface with fine steel wool, clean with laquer thinner, etc.? Would 2 cans of the Wurth paint be enough to paint both wheels?
The wheels aren't in bad shape; however, there's a few scratches that are visible. What do you expect on a 16 year-old BMW?

2 cans of Wurth silver and one can of Wurth clear coat. That is
what I used when I did my '93 wheels.
