Which R1200R to buy

I've decided to buy an R1200R and the question is which year. I'm considering '07-'09. Were there any changes in those years that I should know about. Also, mileage of 30K was suggested by a dealer to be an advantage because the bike was already broken in. Opinions?

Any help/perspectives appreciated.

I found a 2008 with 1400 mies on it last year. It now shows almost 9K. Tires are factory and as I ride mostly highway, they appeared to wear unevenly. I solved that issue with some back road wear doing twisties.

I am 5'2" tall. I had HyperPro shocks added to lower the bike. It can only be safely lowered 2 inches, so I then had a local shoe rebuilder put a 2" lift on boots with a special sole to minimize slippage issue when I put my feet down. Also will be moving my handlebars back a bit.

This is the same modification I did to a 1998 R1100R which I still have and still ride. So shocks can be modified. As can other things.

I am blessed with a dealer that will service my bikes and keeps me informed about any issues with recalls, etc.

Look at the under side of the bike and watch for oil or discolorations of the metal and any leaks or weeps. Look for dents or marks in exhaust or any other marks that do not appear normal to bikes.

My wife just bought a new 08 R12R and got it at pretty near dealer cost. Look around for past model years that never sold and you may get a good deal. A bike with 30k on it could be a great buy or it could be an expensive enterprise. You pay your money and you take your chances. A warranty is a great thing to have.

The one change I'm aware of took place on the 08 models. Prior to that year the final drives were supposed to be maintenance free so no drain plug was provided at the bottom of the FD. Beginning in 08 BMW began adding a drain plug as a result of learning that the no maintenance approach was not working out so well. The older models (05-07) require a bit more effort to change the FD fluid.

30k is good? Doesn't make for a bad machine but sounds like a sales pitch to me! What do they say about zero miles?:scratch
