First of all..........WELCOME ABOARD.......LOTS of good help here. First though, the search on here is totally valuable for finding most often better responses than you will get even with this request................Just to be sure, I just plugged in the words source and then again with supplier and came up with LOTS of threads about this. You might want to be sure to plug in to look in "Airhead" threads.
As a techy type person, Yes I looked at your history, you are surely used to doing a bit of research.........Anyway.........WELCOME HERE BUD.........Dennis
PS........thanks for YOUR service.........God bless our Country

I can't offer you any info for local suppliers, I am a full day ride north of you and across the border. But my $0.02 otherwise...stick to OEM BMW parts. You may find other suppliers of stuff, pay the extra and go with dealer parts. Welcome to the group, lots of gurus here with the answers!!!

Your local dealer is a great source.
You work with them, they'll be there for you.

I've been very happy with Bobs bmw , They know what I'm talking about even when I don't. and the stuff comes in two days to Ma. They have had every thing I have wanted in stock for all three of my bikes.

?
I can work with them but they should know more than I do about what they are selling. Many BMW dealers are not knowledgeable about airhead models any longer. I stopped "working with them" when no one in the building could tell me the right substance to put into my forks.

Beemer Boneyard is a good resource (although they specialize more in K bikes) and they're right in NJ so shipping should be quick.

Boxerworks has recently changed their operation...it might be temporary. A recent post by the guy who runs the parts side said he's not doing new parts anymore, concentrating on used parts. Just FYI...

Good point, might be helpful to ask up front if they work on Airheads specifically (versus: Yes sir, we work on all kinds). Its a fair question when getting to know a dealer.
+1 on Bob's BMW. I don't have them shipped (I live 20 minutes away), but he has what you need almost everytime.

I've been using Capital Cycle for my '83 R100. I got all my Bing re-build parts, all my new cables and all my front brake parts from them. They were the least expensive and were shipped fast. Make sure you have your vin#,so as to get the right parts!:violin

20% off retail, but don't expect to get anything real quickly. good for "i'm gonna be needing that (and that and that and those and those too) in another few months."
