What do you think?

I think it's good gas marketing :)
However, top tier gas is not for the anti ethanol folks. http://www.toptiergas.com/deposit_control.html says:
Contain enough denatured ethanol such that the actual ethanol content is no less than 8.0 and no more than 10.0 volume percent.
When I need gas I tend to pull into the next station I see. If name brand, fine. If not... well, I still need gas. :whistle

Do you know where your meat comes from? What water did your fish swim in? What's sprayed on those vegetables, really in that bag/box or can you're about to feed your family? Do you shop with a "laminated placard"?
Geez man, it's just a machine.

I try to buy the top tier stuff ... usually Shell.
In the summer, however, I use the local Lukoil station because they are alcohol free. They "oxygenate" in the winter. Mileage is better and bike runs nicely.

O.K.
So much for the rough and ready BMW 'round the world adventurer, parking & posing on his "go anywhere" machine with all the gear...
Instead our intrepid fuels analysts would be stuck in logic traps of their own making, worried what to do about ethanol in the plains states, low octane in the mountains, and oxidizers in California. Don't even think about buying gas out of a jug in the back of a truck in Baja, let alone try to translate your "good fuels list".
Just play it safe and stay home. Wouldn't want to poison those bikes.
Talk about over-thinking things...
