there is also a big bbq contest, too. we could have a one-stop ride-2-q. (but that's usually in september and who can wait that long????)
there's a great place, 12 Bones BBQ (http://www.12bones.com/), in asheville, but they're not open on the weekends.

There is an excellent Q restaurant in Ennice, NC (close to Sparta, NC) off the Blue Ridge Parkway, called Saddle Mt. Restaurant. They serve "Lexington" style and are known as one of the better hidden bar-b-q gems in the area. If you want to add this one to the list I'll be glad to set it up. There is also a well known motorcycle camping spot close by called "Willville."
Might be a bit chilly to camp there depending on what month this event takes place. I'll also be glad to contact Will if the group wants to camp at his place.

I'd like to have a heads up on this ride. I live down here in Sandersville, GA and it's quite a ride to Atl. Is there a place/time to meet up w/ this crew near the N. GA mountains?
If its not too much trouble, if I miss you-all at the meet up, I'm ok w/ that, you just keep on gettin' it. I'll find my way home.:D Please advise.

Exit 100 from Smoky Mountain Parkway (23/74) go towards Hazelhood, about a block past the first traffic light on the right. Excellent brisket and all the other traditional BBQ dishes around here. Family restaurant (doesn't serve any alcohol - no brown bagging either). Open for lunch and dinner. They also do a very good job catering. We have hired them for the bank several times.
They were originally next to Clyde's restaurant but moved when all the development was going on for the WM shopping center.

I'm off to Max's season opening barbecue in Brunswick tomorrow. So this gets posted tonight. Curtis Barbecue is the destination but be sure to visit the website (http://www.curtisbbqvt.com/) since it has so many wonderful pictures. Lyman Foss knows Vermont better than the Census Bureau and he highly recommends this destination as one of the best to "pig" out on barbecue in the whole state of Vermont.

yes, i know that spot... intersection of 276 and 215. i've eaten there a few times myself.
the "gotta get up early" place is the Pisagah Inn, on the BRP. it's not far from BRMC, but it adds distance to our morning ride. if we can get rolling by 8, we can ride up there and have breakfast with a killer view of the south carolina highlands.
then, a set of twisty roads you won't ever forget will take us to Phil's by lunch.
i've noticed that 12 Bones does take out orders, similar to Ridgewood last year.
but we have to order ahead, so i am going to need a body count probably at the end of next week.

OK all...got bad news, or some of you may think its good news. I will not be able to attend the 2nd annual Ride 2 Q. I really hate that I can't make it, but it seems that my lovely wife would like the two of us to attend a Rodeo. yea you read that right. cow sh#@, horse sh$# and Cowboys that think they can ride. we all know what real men & women ride..Right? anyhow I've been out voted and can't make the ride. I hope to see many of you at the Georgia Mtn. Rally, and at the Great Chicken Rally. :eat

Ian, so sorry to be on your sh$# list. Now for the rest of the story! (page 2) Kenny has an appointment out of state the following week and has to leave EARLY EARLY Monday am. The ride to "Q" is just pushing things too much. I'm sure he will share his out of state trip upon his return and just maybe you'll take me off your sh$# list. We'll see, thanks "Pete"

Ian,
I've decided to cancel on the trip to Cruso and save my $$$ for the Chicken Rally. Tommy and I weren't going to be able to leave Atlanta until Saturday morning, so we would miss the ride to lunch anyway.

Looking at the forecast for the weather between here and there as well as the weather for the weekend, I'm currently reconsidering.
A couple of weeks ago I went to the Blitz in the rain, rained while I was there and rained on me the whole way home.
Will check again in the morning to decide for sure. :dunno

If you all are heading up 209 anyways why not have Breakfast at G.R.I.T.S country cafe on 209 in Spring Creek.
Also for the GS crowd (and those who treat thier RTs like a gs) a detour to Max Patch may be in order, a Mountain top Bald on the AT less then 8 (5 dirt, mud and some ballast stones) miles off 209. Think opening shots of the Sound of Music.

i really like GRITS.... eat there often. (GRITS stands for "Girls Raised in the South)
There's also a pretty good spot in Trust, and of course my personal fave, the Smoky Mountain Diner in Hot Springs. :eat
wonder if i can get people to ride that far before breakfast? :whistle
current plan is either duvall's in waynesville or Dean's Haywood Cafe @ 209 & I-40.

What a bunch of wimps!!
Here at BRMC since Ths with a great group of FJR guys from all over (about 55 of them) and only my RT and one other RT who happens to ride with the FJR bunch.
FWIW, I found NO rain riding the area until a brief 20 min shower Sat afternoon though it rained Fri night. Some of the FJR guys found some in alternate valleys but everyone has been out riding....

At that time Fri I was eating dinner at Ceviche in Waynesville, washing it down with some Highland Abbey Ale.
+1 on weather channel riders and, no I didn't see the note.
There were very few Hardleys at BRMC- only 3, one of which actually had stock pipes. Everything there was an FJR with the exception of a couple Triumphs, a Duc, a GS 1150, a couple R1200RTs (one mine) and and 3 V Stroms. Aside from the FJR guys meet, there was an ADV ride and a V Strom ride nearby. While riding around I also ran into car groups of Miatas, Porsches and MG-TDs and I didn't even go anywhere near the Dragon.....Did see a few small Hardley group rides, also.
Riding back to Wilmington on Sun was also nearly weather free- only about 15 miles of a shower band at the usual location about 30-40 miles inland from Wilmington where the ocean influence meets inland air masses.
Maybe next year......

No Weather Channel for me; I've just been fairly short on both time off and available cash lately. My life sucks.
