I see that the 2004 schedule included track days and MSF classes before the rally officially started.
With Mid-Ohio so close to Lima, will there be track day classes available?
Thanks.
Hiya Gene ---
Actually, I had not given it any thought. Hmmmm. So -- is there any interest out there?

There is a short gap between Vintage Days, and the rally. Seems like a nice fit in between!

I am game for a track day, and they are cheaper and easier to schedule during the week. Might try some of the organizers ans see if they can set something up.

I am "game". I did my first track laps at the Finger Lakes rally, OHHHH what a thrill on a 1977 R100RS.

BTW, if you have never been to Mid Ohio, it is a wonderful facility, long straights, elevation changes, and just a really nice venue overall. I would love to do a track day there.

I went to the Vintage Days races this past summer. I wanted soooo bad to get out there with those guys. That track is awesome, but I was a motorsport track virgin at that point.

Did you get your $10 worth? I did, on the first lap! That was a riot! :lol The guy said 3 laps, 3 wide, no passing!:rofl Those 3 laps went pretty quick. I was just getting into it. 115mph on the front & back straight's on the 2nd & 3rd laps. :wow
I would be interested in track day at Mid-Ohio!
We have a member of our top-notch team of volunteers already working on it!

AMA Sports already has their Road Race event scheduled for Mid-Ohio on July 18-20. AMA Pro Racing rolls into Mid-Ohio Thursday July 21st for the weekend Superbike race. Don't know if they actually use the track Thursday, though.

been going to mid-ohio very regularly for 10 years now. work the corners with CRC and SCCA.... very good times.
With the dates mentioned earlier I wouldn't get yer hopes up on being able to get on the track. they usually have some bike schools scheduled between the vintage and superbike weekends.
have also contacted the track previously to see what it would take to rent the joint..... 10g's plus!!!. Michelle (owner) likes to make sure her goldmine produces. :D
Maybe Nelson Ledges? that's only a few hours from Lima.

Nothing wrong with making a profit. Also having done a few events (concerts actually) at outdoor venue, typically most of that money is taken up in staffing... of courseI am sure if we all pitched in a dollar we could rent the track :thumb

If things turn out like we all hope they will, I may "need" to buy a new bike before the rally. My '77 R100RS was very fun for the Watkins Glen track session at the Finger Lakes rally, but I couldn't keep up. My wife isn't going to like this, so don't tell her.

Sue,
Have you been secretly conspiring with the guys at BMW of Columbus to push me over the line my wife is forbidding I cross? I might just have to whip out some of that "new math" to prove to my wife that I can afford a new bike. I have long said I couldn't afford NOT to get a new one because of the safety features. If I do get a new one, I may have to adopt out my first child - my 77 R100RS. This is all so exciting and sad.

I am glad the cat is out of the bag. I really wanted to tell everyone abut the day, but had to wait till it was in print.
If you have never attended a track day, they are as much fun as you can have with your clothes on. Monte and Bonnie run a great program and I know you will not be disappointed. I will be there and I hope to see you there too.
This promises to fill up fast! Thanks Lorazepam, for bringing this all together!!!

Good job Loraz and Sue! Many thanks. I'll see you at the track. BTW Loraz, I see you have great taste in Bikes. I rode track day in Trenton on a '94 R1100RS but now have a '04 R1150RS. Can't wait to get that bike on a track and let it run. :burnout

I'd like to sign up for the track day, but when I go to the web site, it appears I have to first Join STT before I can even purchase the track package I want.
Am I in the right place? So far, my online experience at STT has been less than satisfying, to the point where I'm tempted to call and set this up over the phone.
I'm probably being dense, but I doubt I'm the only one. Could the sign-up details be spelled out a little better here on the Forum?
Thanks!

There's now a direct link to the track schedule on the track day page and in the "track Day" thread. And here, for that matter:
https://www.sportbiketracktime.com/cart/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=18&cat=J%29%2BJULY%2B2005%3Cbr%3E%2BDATES
Just scroll down the page until you see the MOA dates. Click on the :order" button and you're on your way.

Don't worry Gene, I had the same problem. I even went so far as to call Bonnie at SST. She assured me that the on-line order system would be up and running by Friday (sounds like it's already working). She said she didn't expect BMWMOA to announce the dates so soon and wasn't prepared.

Follow this link (https://www.sportbiketracktime.com/cart/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=18&cat=J%29%2BJULY%2B2005%3Cbr%3E%2BDATES) Click on the "order" button and you're on your way.
Okay, I found my problem...the "Order" button just looks like black text on a gray background, but it's ACTUALLY a BUTTON. :type
Monte said this doesn't affect everyone...I used IE6.0 and Avant Browser and it never looked like a link to me, so I didn't click it. :dunno
Monte reiterated that STT Membership or even logging in is NOT required. Just ignore all of that, click the stealthy Order button and you're IN.
I can't wait for July!
