This may not be my best quality photo of 2009 but it is the most meaningful to me.
I was laid off in February 2009 and out of work until late September.
A couple of weeks into my new job I rode to work and took this picture.
For obvious reasons it meant a lot to me to be back to work, and have a job I enjoy.

My most meaningful picture was taken at the secret swimming hole in the Big Bend area of Texas. It signifies our family's first visit to our adobe last spring. They came back for Christmas so I think Big Bend has a hold on them too!

Any photo of my daughter is more meaningful than any other photo regardless.

This was taken of me last April in Purbach, Austria. I was in the church office and just found the birth record of my grandfather that was born in 1884. I had been trying to confirm the beginning and end of his life story.

If you are a grandparent, you will understand why this is my Most Meaningful Pic of 2009.

Taken last summer in our back yard.

Ben's legs were too short to reach the water. I love the way the girls are bracketed, in years, by the boys.

This pan photo means that, after finally finishing six months of work on the roof, insulation and HVAC, we moved into the house that we inherited from my wife's parents. More info at

My R1200RT was in the carport when this was taken last May; now it's in storage at Mischler's until spring returns.

I will stick to a motorcycle theme for this. This is a picture taken at the summit on the Cherohala (TN). I love the Winter weather; it is so much fun to ride in the freezing cold and yet be warm and comfortable (a little Bubba Zanetti in me??). Also, it was a ride with my best riding buddy, Doug. You can't have much of a better trip than that. This pic is of me.

My in laws, who live in Saskatchewan, stayed with us for a couple of weeks in October. My father in law, who's 95, and I took a long run in the country, and then I took this picture:

It would be my last, as we lost him just before Christmas. He was my father in law for 35 years, and a great guy.

You're very fortunate to have such a spectacular home.

I saw the roofline and design and figured it for an FLW home. Very, very nice.

Do you still have the FLW designed furniture?

This thread is special. It is a testament to the good people here and what's truly meaningful. Though that varies somewhat, in the main the photos feature family and friends. All the photos are noteworthy however, regardless of what is depicted. dfmcintyre's photo illustrates my point, celebrating as it does accomplishments, overcoming illness and in a very real way hope for the future; all revolving around his family. Wonderful post.

This was taken 3/4 of the way through my wife's Chemo/Radiation treatment for Lung Cancer (non-smoker). We find out tomorrow how effective treatment was. We are expecting a good report. As one can imagine this event has had a profound effect on our lives and the lives of others as my wife has reached out to others with her words of encouragement and testimony of faith.
