It's moving in the original.

Those uniforms look a lot like my old Navy Dress Blue jumper. Anyone know if there is a connection?

Oh my.
That takes me back.
My father would sing this every Christmas, in German. Well, part of it anyway.

Thanks, Paul!
That's kind of a grabber. *sniff*

This really grabbed me too...

I went to grade-school in Germany and still can sing most of the traditional carols in german, though to speak the language coherently is impossible for me now. Funny though, every day I still will reach for something or open a door to see something and think of it in german. My mother who passed away in March was from Essen and grew up a few blocks from the bahnhof (train station) there in the 1930's and '40's. Those were hard times there. We used Google Earth to look at the neighborhood one of the last times we had together and she was so excited to explain so many things about her time there. Any time I hear german spoken or someone with a nice thick accent, I think of her.

Thanks for posting.

Translated into more languages than any other song; also the most famous song of all time.

My old school, Ashland University, and the University Choir in which I once sang bass. How wonderful. Thank you.
