so alas,

i had a fuel leak last night, and at the advice of the local dealer, the R1150R.org, and here have determined it is due to the dreaded qiuck disconnects! now the problem is i can't afford to deal with this at the dealer right now if my contego direct policy doesnt cover this...so if that's the case was wondering if there's anyone in vegas area who can help me out with this? i'm ok with some mechanical stuff, but stuff like this makes me wary :dunno

eitheir that or provide me with a very throughout tutorial on how to do so! hehe, i'll buy you beer and or lunch hehe.

here's a pic of what's leaking:

it's the top hose as u can tell by the shininess on it from the fuel leaking out.

thanks moa

You might try this thread for direction.

Not specific to your bike but the solutions suggested inside might get you up and running.

Good luck!

Have you disconnected the QD to have a look? It may be the small rubber O-ring that has failed - an easy and inexpensive fix. If not the O-ring, the white plastic "male" portion of the QD is probably cracked. If so, it is not repairable and should be replaced or bypassed with a barbed 5/16" end-to-end connector. These brass fittings are available at most hardware or auto parts stores.

I received the metal replacment disconnects from beemer boneyard today and will be putting them on tommorrow. They are a HUGE IMPROVEMENT OVER THE ORIGINALS.I believe I will be happy this is the route I went over direct lines just for future ease, but tommorrow isnt over yet is it.

the fix is fairly inexpensive. my original QD's cracked at the connector. replaced with Jiffy-Tites.

Looked at the Jiffy-tite website and catalog. Looks like a great product (if the price is right)...

What size fitting did you use. Looks like it would be a -4AN or 6AN (what's an AN??)...and what series (2000/3000/5000)...

thanks...happy holidays!!!

I'd have to look at the invoice and find the size. Beemer boneyard sells some non-plastic QD's that are a major improvement as well. Keep the functioning oem QD as a spare. it will come in handy for someone, sometime.
