Not to be a wise-ass, but I'd like to take a survey. How many people think things like this wheel hole should be fixed by an aftermarket part for your Premium Motorcycle?
My older 3 spoke oilhead came with a hub"cap" and these new ones do cause a pocket for water and rust.

You're referring to the center hole in the rear wheel (surrounded by the four wheel bolts)? I don't think it is all that bad. Certain parts on BMW bikes do get tarnished a bit and a touch of WD 40 now and again does the trick. I would spray that center hole, the four wheel bolts and one other problem area is the rear differential oil access plug.

But Wunderlich has a neat cap for the rear wheel. Have you see it? BMW of Santa Cruz is the U.S. distributor for Wunderlich and the new Wunderlich catalog is now out - just in time for Christmas. Go to the BMW Santa Cruz web site and in the upper left corner is a window to order the new catalog. It takes a few weeks for them to get it out to you, but when it comes, you'll have plenty of new items to put on Santa's list.

An idea for those four rear wheel bolts (which I have not done yet): at some time I will paint them. I'll be using a Wurth zinc based spray paint. I have had very good luck refurbishing alloy wheels on old BMW and Mercedes Benz cars. Prep work is very important but so is using the proper primer before shooting an "alloy" color and then clear coat. The primer I use is made by Wurth (Griot's sell the paint too) and with the zinc base it really sticks well to the metal and is tough as nails. That zinc coat will fight rust and I probably won't finish it with a clear coat- just keep the gray-ish color of the zinc paint. Then again, since my wheels are on a Gray/MO 1100 S and the wheels are MO, I might paint the bolts MO.
