All the winterizing advice I've read advises filling the gas tank, some add fuel stabilizer some don't. Since the fuel tank on my K75 is alloy and modern gas tends to rot the fuel pump mount; for the last few years I have fully drained my fuel tank & left it as dry as possible. I haven't seen anything written about doing this so does anyone else drain the tank for the winter? I've only owned the bike three years so this will be its fourth winter with me and so far I've had no ill effects.

I am guilty of running everything dry in the past. Tank and carbs was never a problem. Start with fresh fuel next season.

Now I just try to ride during the winter and buy new gas so it is never sitting too long.

Beats me why I would want a tank full of 4 month old gas with a questionable preservative in it and probably the wrong mix for the season I would be restarting in.

I topped mine off for the winter, then the *@%$& thing started leaking at the infamous bottom center corner seam. It's a used tank and someone must of let water collect there. Now it's drained and I'm looking into cheap fixes. Storing empty is fine, probably best for really long term storage.

I ride my 85 k100rs in the winter so there is no need to winterize it :nono. I also have a k75 I fill with fresh gas in december. in january I siphon it out and put it in my truck. add fresh gas and that is good till of march when I can ride the fuel out.
I also have an 85 honda nighthawk that I will fill with fresh fuel and sta-bil it, It has a steel tank, and carborators.

My lawn tractor I run the fuel out of it.
