i watched this movie last night. John Travolta and others are in it.

So were a bunch of R1200RT police bikes in New York City.
Is that the police bike they use in New York City?

Fun movie. Denzil & Travolta played their roles well.

I can't comment on what NYPD rides, but I did notice that the sound track for the bikes was dubbed - those were not the exhaust notes of RTPs. I noticed the same thing in the remake of 'The Italian Job' - the RTPs sounded just like four cylinder race bikes.

Should we be insulted?

Walter Matthau and Robert Shaw were better in the original.
Oh yes. This is another remake.
Are there are any screenwriters out there with original thoughts?

don't think so, i've never seen one. i live in brooklyn, not a lot of motorcycle action over there, they mostly operate in manhattan for big events (think UN, etc). i saw that movie with my dad in the theaters last winter. movies set in nyc come to frustrate you after you've been here a bit due to mis-shot locations, impossible logistics and false building placement. there MAY be a fed reserve depot in downtown brooklyn, but a buddy of mine lives at the foot of the manhattan bridge doesn't seem to think so.

FYI, our AZ Highway Patrol uses new R12RT patrol bikes. Mostly platinum with a touch of black here and there, they are so pretty.

The movies always dub in sound on cars and bikes. And squealing tires, etc. Hey, it's a movie!

So I would think the reason they have the BMWs (with pretty clear logos) is because BMW paid for the advertising? Like when you see a guy drink a clearly labeled "Coke" it is because they paid for that. I assume that is the case here since the logos weren't removed.

Cool shots though, I had to do a lot of slow mo action during the bike scenes which drove my wife nuts as usual.
