than i've had all season.
lemme explain
so this past week, i was up in MA. we did the turkey, we did it in eastern ma, in western ma, visiting family all over. we rested a bit on friday, hung out with some old friends, the only store we set foot in was the liquor store (packy in MA) to buy a growler of berkshire brewery's finest. so yesterday, after being at my fiancee's parents a few days, decided to go up and visit my folks and maybe, just maybe, pull the R80 out of the shed and putt around a bit.
putt around I did, not really straying more than 30 miles from my parent's place, i tried riding up a local mountain, but it was closed. riding was a bit tedious as the northeast was experiencing ridiculous winds yesterday. me and my poor little steed were getting buffeted around my 50+ mph gusts all afternoon. i decided i'd had enough and went up to the local boy scout camp my dad takes care of, he was roofing a building and i figured i'd check on his progress. i got up to the camp and talked to my pops for a few then took off down the dirt road that led into the woods. soon the dirt turned to muck and mini lakes and more muck and swamps and impassable roads and me and my little ST with its Bridgestone BT45 no way in hell designed for what they were doing tires took it all in. so i went as far as i could, further than i should have, turned the bike around and headed for home. something came over me on the way home, i let loose, said screw it and decided, on this 40 degree late november day with 50 mph winds to let that trail/road/swamp have it. i charged into 2 ft deep black morasses at breakneck speed. i crashed the bike, i dropped the bike, i got covered in swamp water and leaves and dead animals of all kinds. i did this for a long time. i blasted past my dad covered in crap, boots full of water and all he could do was shake his head. i rode through the center of the small town i grew up in looking like the trash heap from Fraggle Rock with NY plates.
