I have a 1999 R1100s. I have looked in my manual and inspected the front forks looking for the drain plugs so that I can change out my fork oil. I see no mention of fork oil capacities in the manual........nothing. But I can't believe that there is no fluid in there. Is there?
If there is, how do you service it?

The factory manual CD is a little better, but I have to say leave it to BMW:
p31.7 - the note says no fork oil change is needed during service, the fork is "maintenance free."
Getting the oil out per the manual requires removal of the slider and dumping it out.
The quantity of oil to be installed is 170 cc.

The oil (in mine) was red so I assume its ATF or similiar. Since all the suspension action is taken up by the exposed shock and spring its probably OK to just leave it in there unless the seal fails and some of it leaks out.
