I have an R1100R that had a BMW plug in place of the bleeder valve on the right front caliper. I picked up a bleeder valve at the dealer and was told by the service department the bleeder valve should only be used for bleeding, then placed in the tool box and to replace the original BMW plug.

They said the taper of the plug is different from the bleeder valve. When bleeding is complete remove the bleeder with the brake lever pulled in and put the plug back in.

Does anyone else change back to the plug after replacing fluid/ bleeding? Weird.

I replaced the factory plug on my 2000 R1100R many years ago with the bleeder plug and never looked back.

I think the technician is misinformed. I think the thread is the same - if not - why not put in the correct bleeder plug. It fails to make any sense.

That original gozmo is on there because the system is pressure filled from the bottom at the factory and that is the fitting used. BME just doesn't take them off - leaving that for you or your mechanic to do. On Voni's R1100RS and my R1150R the dealership removed them and put on regular bleed valves at the 600 mile service.

I'm not familiar with the R1100R, but I use these on my 05 K1200 LT, they work great,

ditto on the Speedbleeders. makes one person bleeding/fluid changes much easier.
I yanked the entire bleeder block assembly on the right front caliper, replaced with a SB, and have never looked back, nor ever had a problem (on both my R11S, and my g/f's R11S).
