View Full Version : Throttle body bushings?

I have the obligatory noisy (read sloppy) throttle body shaft on the right hand side on my '96 R1100RS. Besides the noise, it makes synching the TB's difficult. 'Da piece of junk only has 130,000 miles

Does anybody have any experience "rebushing" the TB's and/or does anybody have a kit?

I have a pretty extensive shop, Bridgeport mill, lathe and such, but I figure before I dive into this... why reinvent the wheel.

There are used ones on E Bay for reasonable money, but I'm concerned about the part number difference between an early year '96 and a 2000. If anyone has any info on that aspect, please chime in.

Thanks,

Tom

Its not the bushings that go bad (usually) Its the brass shaft the throttle plate screws to that wears out. You can get a new shaft at Bing just look online. Theres a tollfree # in Kansas. You give them the TB # on the side and theyll send you the kit. (~$50)
R&Ring the TB is easy and so is diassembling and reassembling it. You'll feel so smart when you fix it! I know I did!

This previous post may help. About the fifth post down talks about getting the repair parts from Bing for about $60.

Cool:brow

I suspected that it might be the shaft as the range of motion seemed to change with the rotation of the butterfly.

I'll order up the parts and have them around for when I have the time and ambition.

Thanks for your help :bow
