Hello; I took off my crash bars last night, and I noticed the right side front nut was only finger tight. The nut had to come all the way off to get the bar off, when I put it back on it just kept turning and turning. I examined teh nut, it doesn't seem faulty, but I ran it through a die which cut deeper threads in it. So it must be the male threads that are faulty.

What I'd like to know is; Is the front mount a bolt or a long stud that passes through the cases?

I was surprised that I didn't feel any vibrations from an obvious loose motor mount. If I can get it out, I'll run a die nut along it to try to restore the threads, if that doesn't work I'll have to order a new one, I suppose.

The aHaynes manual doesn't show this bolt/stud in any pictures, it doesn't explain the mount at all.

Depending on your model, yes, the bolt runs through the engine to the other side. You have to tighten the bolts on each side against each other.Your arms are probably not long enough to do it yourself!

hello BGR; It is a 77 R 100/7. The left one was loose too, but not finger tight. I was surprised that there are only those two through-bolts holding the engine in.

It's one long stud, threaded on each end.

On each end there is one nut and one flat washer.

55 ft-lbs, IIRC.

Your bike is likely to "feel" better with the nuts tightened.
