What's up with the right hand caliper not having a bleeding valve? According to everything I've read, I need to replace the grub screw with a bleed valve fitting, do the job and then replace the grub screw again.

The local dealer offered no clue as to why this is set up this way.

My question for those that know - why is this set up this way - what is the purpose of this piece? Can I replace the whole unit with a bleed screw, or do I have to follow instructions and end up leaking brake fluid in the pavement? If I can replace it, is the thread a 10mmx1?

Thanks in advance for any info on this.

Jim:

thanks for the advice, I ordered the speed bleeders. I guess what kinda gets me is that no one seems to be able to tell me exactly what this do-hicky is - the dealer doesn't know, BMW says go ask your dealer (I love the logic there) and I can't find any info in the manuals or elsewhere. I figure it was put there for a reason. My best guess at this time is for the factory to fill the system based on pressure from the lowest point to the highest point - that way the assembler can hook up the power feed and go have a cigarette and coffee.

Thanks again,

Dan

As a GS rider, you need to find this site and sheck out the Hall of Wisdom on the top of the discussion site, if you don't find what you need there, then search for it and you will find it somewhere...cheers and welcome....
